REFLECTIONS

Individual 1:

MAY: This individual at first was presented with a lot of impulsive actions. There was a lot of energy displayed and would constantly be moving and hitting the volleyball in many different directions.

JUNE: After learning the ropes about volleyball the individual is still having a hard time developing certain skills to control his energy, but is still willing to try and make a difference in his approach.

JULY: Individual was frustrated at the end of June and started to act out. Once the rules were issued and scores started to be kept, said individual became more in control because he wanted to continue to work towards the tournament held at the end of the clinics. He was motivated by a reward. This helped his attitude and his skills and abilities to be more adherent.

Individual 2:

MAY: This individual was not at all interest in being involved in the practices. She didn’t want to do anything but because her group was there she felt like she needed to get involved. She would just stand on the court and didn’t like the ball coming towards her.

JUNE: Said individual had a private lesson with me about how to use her strengths to become better. It was interesting to watch her work towards excellence. She would still try and get on the court, but she had more confidence about how she was moving and getting involved.

JULY: This individual showed the most improvement in her attitude and in her skill. She went from being shy and not wanting to be there to pushing us to continue the clinics and games. She was moving more and getting her exercise in which was not possible with her daily routine. She was happier to be around people as well.

Individual 3:

MAY: This individual was the hardest of them all. Due to her disabilities, she was unable to use her right hand and arm. This made it hard for her to play most of the time. She always tried and would become upset when her teammates got mad at her for failing a majority of the time.

JUNE: She never stopped coming. Now she is using different tactics taught by me and her staff to get the ball over the net. Her teammates still get a little irritated with her but she manages and enjoys her time on the court.

JULY: This individual has shown show much effort that her teammates always want to be on her team. Not because she is the best at volleyball, but because she has learned how to play with her disability she encourages those around her and helps them know they can do better. She has been chosen as team captain by the other individuals. Her attitude has changed the entire atmosphere of the clinics.
